Distilled-spirits labeling, laid out to the federal rules
Spirits carry the strictest labeling regime in beverage alcohol, and most bottles need a Certificate of Label Approval (COLA) from the TTB before crossing state lines. The class and type rules alone (what may legally be called bourbon, straight rye, or gin) catch plenty of first labels. We place every mandatory element by the book, so the file you submit for COLA arrives submission-ready:
- Brand name and class/type designation: the name your spirit sells under plus its legal class and type, which is defined tightly for whiskies, gins, vodkas, rums, and agave spirits.
- Alcohol content: ABV stated in the TTB-accepted format; proof may accompany it.
- Net contents: the authorized standard of fill (750 mL, 375 mL, 50 mL, and the rest), positioned to spec.
- Bottler statement: “Bottled by” (or distilled/produced by, as your operation warrants) with name and address tied to your permit.
- Age statements where required: certain whiskies must state age when under four years old; wording and placement follow the rules.
- Government warning: the health warning statement rendered word for word as required, bold, separated, and sized to your container class.
