Applications
Call a spirit bourbon when the rules say it isn’t, and the release stalls before it ships: that is the scrutiny a spirits label lives under. We lay out custom liquor bottle labels with the federally mandated statements in place, for craft distilleries, rectifiers, and private-label spirits brands, whiskey to gin to canned cocktails. The stocks read top-shelf in the hand, and batch or bottle numbering joins the run when a release calls for it. Spirits label printing with distillery-run economics in mind: prepped, pressed, and finished G7® Master Certified in Naperville, Illinois.
Spirits label sizes for every bottle in the rail
Distillery glass is too particular for stock sizes, so the die comes from the bottle itself. We set up front-and-back sets for 750 mL and 375 mL bottles, tall panels for slender gin and vodka glass, neck and shoulder bands, 50 mL miniature labels, and full wraps for canned cocktails.
Shapes
Rectangles, arches, ovals, shields, and custom die-cuts that echo a crest or still silhouette, plus tax-strip-style neck seals.
Materials
Textured cotton, felt, and laid estate papers; bright and warm white uncoated stocks; durable white films for bar-well and cocktail service.
Finishes
Matte or soft-touch lamination layered with spot gloss and blind embossing, for depth and hand-feel that read premium under bar light.
Formats
Pressure-sensitive rolls for bottling lines, front, back, and neck labels in one pass.
Bottle in hand or supplier spec sheet: either lets us draw the die lines true.
Premium that survives the speed rail
A spirits label lives a rougher life than its price point suggests: bar wells, ice buckets, condensation rings, and a hundred pours a night under someone’s wet grip. Uncoated estate papers look extraordinary on the shelf and terrible after a week in a rail unless they’re specified right. We pair textured stocks with laminates and adhesives that preserve the hand-feel while resisting moisture. For bottles destined for cocktail service, durable film builds keep the brand crisp through the whole bottle’s working life.
Color that holds from barrel one to barrel fifty
Craft spirits sell on trust, and a lineup whose bottles don’t quite match erodes it fast. On presses held to the G7® Master standard, your label color comes back the same across releases, batches, and years, so the single-barrel release and the flagship sitting next to it look like siblings, not cousins.
Distilled-spirits labeling, laid out to the federal rules
Spirits carry the strictest labeling regime in beverage alcohol, and most bottles need a Certificate of Label Approval (COLA) from the TTB before crossing state lines. The class and type rules alone (what may legally be called bourbon, straight rye, or gin) catch plenty of first labels. We place every mandatory element by the book, so the file you submit for COLA arrives submission-ready:
- Brand name and class/type designation: the name your spirit sells under plus its legal class and type, which is defined tightly for whiskies, gins, vodkas, rums, and agave spirits.
- Alcohol content: ABV stated in the TTB-accepted format; proof may accompany it.
- Net contents: the authorized standard of fill (750 mL, 375 mL, 50 mL, and the rest), positioned to spec.
- Bottler statement: “Bottled by” (or distilled/produced by, as your operation warrants) with name and address tied to your permit.
- Age statements where required: certain whiskies must state age when under four years old; wording and placement follow the rules.
- Government warning: the health warning statement rendered word for word as required, bold, separated, and sized to your container class.
The rules live in the TTB’s labeling requirements; we print what your compliance advisor has cleared, exactly as cleared. One craft-friendly note: canned cocktails and RTDs follow their own path depending on the base spirit, so tell us what’s in the can and we’ll lay it out to match.
From single-barrel releases to flagship lines
We print pressure-sensitive spirits labels for whiskey, bourbon, and rye; gin, vodka, and rum; agave spirits; liqueurs and amari; barrel picks and store exclusives; and canned cocktail wraps. Batch and bottle numbering runs as variable data labels in the same job, every bottle individually numbered with no hand-stamping. Related categories: TTB-ready wine labels and craft beer labels. Spirits artwork, prepped for glass and gold light
Dark, moody spirits designs live and die on ink coverage, so prepress proofs them until the bottle on the bar matches the bottle in the mockup. Files: die line off the glass’s real straight panel, mandatory statements inside the safe zone, bleed, and vector art in CMYK at 300 dpi as PDF, AI, or EPS.
From barrel decision to bottling day
A spirits order moves like a release: prepress positions the mandatory statements on a die drawn from your glass, a GMG proof locks the label’s golds and blacks, and the run prints G7®-controlled on cotton, felt, or film stock with soft-touch or matte lamination and blind embossing where the design calls for it. Batch and bottle numbers merge in the same pass; rolls wind for your bottling line.
Spirits label FAQs
Which statements are mandatory on a liquor bottle label?
Federal rules require the brand name, class and type designation, alcohol content, net contents, the bottler statement, and the government health warning, plus age statements for certain young whiskies. Prepress sets each one to spec before you ever see a proof.
Do you handle the COLA?
We prepare the artwork so every mandatory element is present, positioned, and sized for the Certificate of Label Approval submission. The filing goes through your TTB permit, using our print-ready art.
Can each bottle carry its own number?
Yes. Variable-data printing puts batch numbers, barrel IDs, and sequential bottle counts on every label in the run, so single-barrel releases get real numbered bottles without hand-stamping.
How do we get a premium feel on the label?
Textured cotton and felt stocks, soft-touch laminate, spot-gloss work, and blind embossing: tactile depth that reads top-shelf in the hand and under bar light.
Will the label survive an ice bucket or bar rail?
It can. We pair premium stocks with moisture-tolerant laminates and adhesives, or spec durable film builds for bottles headed into heavy cocktail service.
Do you print short runs for barrel picks?
We do. Quantities suit a single-barrel or store-pick release, and the same die and color setup scales to your distribution volumes.
What file format works for spirits label artwork?
Vector-built PDF, AI, or EPS at 300 dpi in CMYK with bleed and the bottle’s die line. Dark designs get an ink-coverage proof in prepress.
